Concrete actions against climate change: Xi Jinping

Communist part president of China, Xi Jinping requested the world to come together and fight the climate change menace. It urged the international community to initiate concrete actions for addressing the changing environment. 

Xi was addressing the G20 summit, where top world leaders congregated, including the US President Joe Biden, India’s Prime Minister Narendra Damodar Das Modi, German Chancellor Angela Merkel, French President Emmanuel Macron, South Korean President Moon Jae, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and others. 

In his address, he said that energy issues and climate change were two of the major prominent global challenges that concerned the global community like none other. Moreover, it held importance for the Earth’s future. 

He stated that the willingness and cooperation of the global community to work together continues to rise, which is a welcome sign and vital to take concrete steps. 

He pleaded with the world to adopt balanced and comprehensive policies for environmental protection. Moreover, he also emphasised economic development amid all concerns. 

He also talked about saving people’s livelihood while indicating the requirement of safeguarding climate change. 

Xi added that major economies should make the maximum effort to mitigate the growing carbon emission. He even urged to effectively and fully execute the United Nations Framework Convention based on climate change along with the Paris Agreement.

 He upheld the role of the United Nations as the main channel. Furthermore, he also highlighted the necessity of initiating robust actions. 

Jinping stressed that dragon would successfully release execution plans and necessary measures for major industries and areas to achieve carbon peaking. 

He added that China would continue the upgrading and transformation of industrial and energy.
